Deep Sleep Appliance Therapy

A Path to Better Sleep and Health

Sleep is essential for overall health, but for many, it can be disrupted by conditions like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring. While continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines are a common treatment, many individuals are turning to a more comfortable and convenient alternative: Dental Sleep Appliance Therapy.

Dental Sleep Appliance Therapy involves the use of custom-fitted oral appliances designed to treat sleep-related breathing disorders like OSA and chronic snoring. These devices, typically made by dentists with advanced training in sleep medicine, gently reposition the jaw and tongue to keep the airway open during sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the muscles in the throat or tongue relax too much, causing a partial or complete blockage of the airway. These devices move the lower jaw slightly forward to prevent airway collapse. By keeping the airway open, these appliances reduce interruptions in breathing, improving oxygen flow to the body.

At O'Neal Dentistry, we have successfully treated many patients with OSA and snoring with a custom dental appliance. There are several available appliance options, and we can select and custom fit the one most appropriate for your situation.
