Dental implants are now available for patients needing to replace missing teeth, or for patients who need additional stability for their existing dentures at our Tyler family dentist office. Please give our dental office a call for more implant information.
Dr. O'Neal has the ability to determine whether or not you are a candidate for implants by taking a 3D scan of your mouth and oral health here at our Tyler dental office. In some cases, a bone graft may be recommended to improve the quality of the bone that will allow for an implant to be placed and fused properly for long lasting results.
Dr. O'Neal offers conscious sedation through the use of local or general anesthesia for patients having implants surgically placed, although sedation is not required.
Depending on the situation, the implant typically requires 3-6 months for Osseointegration, which is a medical term for growth of bone around the dental implant. This implant process is generally done through two separate procedures. Once the implant is anchored to the bone, Dr. O'Neal will place a healing cap to prepare the gum tissue for the new crown. The new crown will be connected to the implants with a connector abutment.
A wonderful benefit of dental implants is that they last a very long time. When you take good care of them, implants can last upwards of 20 years. Like any restorative dentistry treatment or procedure, dental implants require good, consistent oral hygiene and proper care to ensure they last a long time. Dr. Steven M. O'Neal, DDS recommends that you have your implants cleaned and examined at least once every six months.
